ORGANISATION

• Music School Josip Hatze organises the international music competition Daleki akordi (Distant Chords). On even years the competition is organised for piano, guitar and singing, and on odd years for woodwinds, brass and strings.

• The competition is normally held in April, but the exact date is determined by the school’s curriculum for each year separately.

• The competition is public.

• The school principal names The Organising Committee.

• The role of The Organising Committee is to bring rules and programme, to choose the jury and to determine the amount of the entrance fee and prizes. The Organising Committee also prepares printed materials, competition schedule, and organises all the activities relevant to the competition.

RULES

• The competition is open for students with formal or informal music training who meet the competition age requirements.

• Applications can be submitted only through the online application on our website http://www.dalekiakordi.com. Application deadline is 30 days and the last application day is 30 days prior to the first day of the competition. After this, the registration will be closed.

• The program specified in the application cannot be changed.

• The entrance fee must be paid at least 30 days prior to the first day of scheduled competition. The candidates who do not pay the entrance fee will not be listed in the competition booklet and will not be able to participate.

• The competition schedule and timetable are listed in the competition booklet. The competition booklet will be delivered to the participants/schools before the competition.

• The organiser will provide rehearsal rooms for the competitors, warm-up room before the performance, and acoustic rehearsal in the performance hall.

• The contestants must perform by heart, except by performing sonata/duo sonata or unless indicated otherwise. In the piano discipline, the entire program is performed by heart. Repetitions are not obligatory.

• Age limits are determined in the following way: a specific category includes those contestants who, in the competition calendar, turn the age for a given category and younger. Undergraduate students can only apply in 6^th category. Exceptionally, in the discipline voice, undergraduate students can only apply in 5^th category.

• The order in which candidates perform is determined by alphabetical order, the exceptions are the candidates for whom this is not possible due to the organisational reasons.

• The winners of the first prizes from the previous Competition are not allowed to compete again in the same category in the next competition.

JURY

• The Music Competition Organising Committee appoints a three or more member Jury (from the ranks of renowned artists and pedagogues) for each discipline.

• The Jury awards points from 1 to 60. The success of each contestant is determined by adding the points of each member of the Jury and dividing the sum with a number of members of the jury who gave the points to that the contestant. The final score consists of a whole number with two decimal places after the dot.

• Before the addition of the points, the highest and the lowest score get closer to 3 points to the next highest or lowest score.

• The decision of the Jury is final, with no right to appeal.

• Jury members are not allowed to assess:

– any pupils or students of their own

– any pupils or students from the institutions they work at

– nor any pupils or students who are their close, distant or any other relatives.

• If the contestant exceeds the designated time limit of the programme, the jury can interrupt his/her performance.

 

PRIZES

• According to the final score given by the Jury for each category, the contestant will receive the following prizes:

1^st prize: 55,0 – 60,0 points

2^nd prize: 45,0 – 54,9 points

3^rd prize: 35,0 – 44,9 points

diploma: 30,0 – 34,9 points

• The highest scoring contestant of each particular discipline, under the condition that one has more than 58,0 points, will be awarded with a monetary prize. The monetary prize will be determined by The Organising Committee of the Competition.

• If more contestants in each category have an equal number of points, the ranking shall be determined by the date of birth and preference will be given to the younger candidate.

• If more contestants in each discipline have an equal number of points, the ranking shall be determined by the date of birth and preference will be given to the older candidate.

• The organiser reserves the right to award special prizes.

• Upon completion of the competition for each category, the results will be announced on the bulletin board and on our website www.dalekiakordi.com.

• All participants of the competition will receive a Certificate of Participation.

• Teachers and accompanists will get a Certificate of Participation.

 

CLOSING CONCERT

• The Closing concert is organised at the end of the competition. The programme of the closing concert is defined by the Jury.

• Laureates of each discipline are obliged to perform at the Final concert. Any laureate who unjustifiably fails to perform will lose the right to be awarded.

• The first-placed winners in each discipline and category will receive a plaque. The plaques will be awarded at the closing concert.
